Bergman Draper Oslund Participates in ‘Miles for Meso’ Mesothelioma Run
On July 4, 2018, Bergman Draper Oslund had employees, families and friends participate in the annual Independence Day “Miles for Meso” 5k run in Federal Way, Washington. The annual mesothelioma fundraising run began seven years ago and benefits the Mesothelioma Foundation.
The run has raised more than $100,000 over the last few years. That money goes towards helping mesothelioma victims and their families cover the costs of medical treatment and support while they battle this rare and devastating cancer caused by asbestos exposure.
The Federal Way Community Center coordinates the local run. There are several “Miles for Meso” events across the country. Diana Stewart, Pat Dyhrman, and Pat Hatley, three women who all lost their husbands to mesothelioma, founded the Washington run.
Diana’s husband, Bob Stewart, was a Federal Way High School teacher and coach. Pat’s husband, Dick Dyhrman, was a geologist for Weyerhaeuser. Both lost their lives to this terrible cancer that’s caused by asbestos exposure, as did Mrs. Hatley’s husband.
The women wrote a personal letter to participants to thank them saying, “Mesothelioma is a horrible disease and we want to see a cure come to fruition. We are also so glad that the Foundation is able to help patients and families get medical treatment and support while they are struggling with illness.”
On hand attending the run for Bergman Draper Oslund, was firm founder Matt Bergman and attorney Glenn Draper, among many others. Matt, Glenn, and other race participants ran the BPA trail and through Celebration Park and enjoyed views of Mount Rainier along the run path.
If you want to participate in a future “Miles for Meso” run, you can check out information on the race’s website. There are Miles for Meso events in eight states including Washington, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Virginia, and Missouri throughout the year.
In addition to sending participants to this worthy cause, Bergman Draper Oslund made a donation to the race and encourages others to support mesothelioma charities year-round. The Bergman Legal team is devoted to mesothelioma victims and their loved ones and are always pleased to participate in worthy causes like the “Miles for Meso” run.
Bergman Draper Oslund won more than $700 million in settlements for victims of mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure. Contact us now for a free case evaluation if you or a loved one was diagnosed with this rare cancer. We’ll fight for your rights. Let’s get started.
