$1,130,146 – to a mill worker diagnosed at age 64 with mesothelioma. He worked at a timber mill cutting and installing asbestos pipe covering. He also cleaned and swept the work area when his job was done, creating dust in the air.

He worked as an auto mechanic performing automotive repair, including repairing and replacing brakes, including cleaning out brake assemblies. During this work, he’d sand brakes, use an air hose to blow out the dust and use wire brushes to clean out the brake housings. He also performed tune-ups and small engine overhauls and replaced gaskets, removing them with a scraper or wire brush.
