The legislation also requires a public education campaign to increase awareness of the dangers of asbestos products. In addition, the bill authorizes increased funding for asbestos disease research and treatments, including for mesothelioma. More information about Senator Murray’s continuing efforts to ban asbestos and raise awareness about the dangers of this deadly substance can be found by visiting http://murray.senate.gov/asbestos.

Ms. Knudson’s work on asbestos for Senator Murray required her to develop a thorough understanding of asbestos related issues, including of the diseases that asbestos exposure causes. As a Congressional staffer, she worked closely with asbestos victims groups, including those representing people with mesothelioma and their families.
